Young Roots Jazz Quartet

Escuela Libre de Musica Ernesto Ramos Antonini, San Juan, PR

Young Roots Jazz Quartet is a group made by good friends who love jazz and got together to share their love for this music to the rest of the world through their individual talents. Since the Escuela Libre de Musica does not have an official jazz program, they relied on David Rivera Martinez to guide them into this world. The group is made up by sophomore Christian A. Montañez Acevedo (Drums), David’s private student; junior Angel G. Cuyar López (alto sax), top honor student and recipient of an outstanding saxophonist award; junior Gabriel A. Llovet Montañez, upright and electric bass player; and senior Richard A Peña Medina, who was awarded with a scholarship to study at Berklee. Young Roots Jazz Quartet currently gigs around Puerto Rico and has participated at the “Ventana al Jazz” Festival held in Condado, P.R.
